Beware! Map download ties up Ipad for hours

Beware for now as the app automatically begins to download maps which takes an incredible amount of time. My ipad air 2 has been tied up for one and half hours so far and is at only 33% download. I kid you not, this is unacceptable. I hate to do this, as I always support and want to support boardgame apps, but DONT buy until this major issue is fixed

So far seems like a waste

8 bucks I expect a tutorial that works and if you are going to Nickle and dime for DLC dont charge 8 bucks for the game. Id wait for this to go on sale.

Some Issues

The first time I started the app, it hung on loading for over an hour until I killed it. The second time I started it, it loaded fairly quickly. I downloaded the 4-5 player map, and that got hung too. Again I had to kill the app start it up again to resolve the issue. Once past these issues, it worked great. AI modes seem to work well. One note: This game only has the Standard game rules. It needs the option of the Basic game rules mode that is available in the board game. It would help new players to the game learn it easier and would give experienced players an option.

Disappointed

Am a avid boardgamer and enjoy iPad adaptions for the most part. Had never played the cardboard version but had been following the release of this as people seemed excited about it. Bought it on the day it came out tried the tutorial. Just freezes. I paid $7 for this. Disappointed. I would wait until maybe they fix this before buying

Download Times

The download time issue was only there for the first hours the game was available on the iTunes store. The download is now nearly instantaneous and the game works perfectly. It deserves 5 stars...

Very good adaptation

:-)

Excellent adaptation from classic board game

The game does a great job at bringing Steam to the iPad. Excellent interface, strong AI, graphics taken from the original and a decent music. I did not have any issues with the map download, looks like that happened early after the release only. Special thanks for the colourblind setting.

Horrible Tutorial

The tutorial for this game is completely useless. It is filled with spelling errors and bad grammar which makes it very difficult to understand what you are supposed to do. It also just tells you what actions to take without any context or reasoning for why those actions are important.

Excellent implementation!

Great app version of this game! Ive heard some say the AI is too easy. Im still having trouble beating it, but Im relatively new to the game.

Good boardgame, bonehead app design

This ui design is outright awful. The tutorial dismisses tutorial help so fast that its often unreadable. Big, clumsy game controls & status displays take up so much of the screen real estate; at best, with visual information hidden, you can see about a quarter of the map at once ... still partially obscured by the remaining controls. Theres no way to zoom-out to view the whole map. Its frequently buggy - critical legal actions/moves suddenly dont work. Almost unplayable.

Tutorial stops working

When you go through the standard tutorial the tutorial stops working right after you upgrade your train to level 3, ship one good, and then put the points into the income track. Wallace is up next but she doesnt do anything.

Great game but a few bugs

Works fine on iPhone 6 but probably best on iPads. As others pointed out, the tutorial has a bug and cant be completed. I played 4 games but couldnt finish the last one due to a bug (old graphics suddenly got loaded and I couldnt complete the unloading of my train). Great game, well balanced, and good enough graphics.

Love it. More maps please.

As a board game lover and someone who appreciates a good strategy game, this one rocks. If you like Ticket to Ride, Catan, or any of the all time greats, this is for you. Only complaint is a couple of bugs but nothing major and I want more maps as soon as possible. Download this game, take the time to understand the rules, and you will not regret it. Oh, and I never do reviews so that should tell you something.

Great game

One of my favorite board games ever turned into a wonderful app. There are a few bugs and still waiting on the online play but overall this is a must own.

Total Garbage

Taking several hours and still cant download maps. I can look at free loading bars all day long. #trash

Wait before buying

It takes about an hour to download all the maps. Then, when I selected tutorial, it loaded forever and I couldnt get to the game. Dude, if you are going to charge $6.99 for a game, make sure it works. Silly.

Load Times

Wish I could review the app but load times have been horrendous. Initial loading of maps took over an hour on high speed wifi. Tried to play tutorial and after 90 mins it was still loading. Whats going on?

Youve got to be kidding

The map required an hour to download. The PDF file took so long, I closed the page before it was done. And now the Tutorial, same problem. I dont have years to waste waiting to learn and play. How did this idiocy get past their QA? How did Apple even approve this? Hopefully, this can earn a few stars after the download problems are resolved but this is unplayable as of now, because I cant just sit and wait hours for it to start. Airpad and latest OS installed.

And ... its broken

Downloads quickly. After selecting the appropriate language the App immediately begins to "download maps" and bombs with 404 "not connected to the Internet" error.

Not impressed so far. Unable to load on iPad Air.

Continued "404 unable to connect to Internet" While connected.....
